For the past five years I’ve been collaborating with interior designers, architects, studios and brands to tell visual stories from Malaysian homes, hotels and design studios. A lot of that work lives on Ruang by Atap, where I film calm, detailed tours of spaces across the country. My work in interiors has taken me into some of the most thoughtful rooms in Malaysia, while my interviews, portrait and personal projects keep me close to the human stories behind them.

I’m drawn to spaces that feel like characters. Each home or hotel has its own temperament, shaped by how light moves through it and how materials meet — stone, concrete, timber and fabric framed so you can almost feel their weight and texture. People drift in and out of these rooms, sitting, working, waiting; nothing is over-performed, everything stays close to how the place is meant to live.

Outside of commissioned work, I keep a steady practice of street photography, portraits and small personal films — strangers, back lanes, empty corners of the city that live on Instagram at @louielim and @motifvisualstudio. Those pieces are where I push framing, colour and rhythm a little further than I can on a client job, and they feed straight back into how I see interiors: more human, more patient, and a little more honest.

Portraits for Creatives & Teams

I offer still portraits and motion portraits for interior designers, architects, studio teams, creatives, founders and independent professionals. These can be photographed in your own space or on location, using the same attention to light and mood that I bring to my interior work. The aim is simple: images that feel true to who you are.
